No. This is not an account of an historical visit by the Queen of England and Everywhere Else. Timed to occur on Art Deco Weekend Cunard’s newest cruise liner, MV Queen Victoria, arrived amid much trumpet blowing. The liner is the largest ever to have visited Napier. From sea level she appeared absolutely enormous. The largest of man-made things can appear small when viewed from nature’s monuments and from the top of Bluff Hill she looks relatively modest.
This is the first Cunard Line ship built by Fincantieri at the Marghere Shipyard near Venice, one of the most technically advanced shipbuilders in the world who have built more than 7,000 vessels.
